How to Determine What Private Number Called Your Cell Phone
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to tell who is calling you on your cell phone? Most mobile phones display the number a call is coming from, but not the name of the caller, unless it is listed in the phonebook on your device. If you don’t recognize the number, and the caller doesn’t leave a message on your voice mail system, you may never know who called.
Fortunately, there are online resources that you can use to obtain the name of the person that any telephone number is listed to, even if they are not in the telephone directory. These reverse lookup sites are usually free for land-line numbers, but charge a small fee or membership to obtain information associated with cell phone and unlisted numbers. If you are receiving harassing phone calls from a number, many of these sites will allow you to file a complaint.
These websites are very user-friendly and operate much like any other search engine. Simply log on to a reverse lookup website and enter the number you want information on. Once you type the number in to the box and click the search button, it will search directories and databases for that number. When it finds a match it will display the results on the screen. It’s just that easy. If the call originated from a land-line, the name in the directory for that number will be displayed. If the call came from an unlisted number or a cell phone, the displayed results will tell you if the information is available and how much it will cost you to view that information.
You’ll have to decide whether or not you want to pay the fee. It may not always be worth the expense. But if you absolutely need to know who called you, it’s nice to know that the information is available.
